When you meet me you’ll quickly notice I have a Scottish accent. Scotland is where my passion for sewing began, spurred by the talented women in my family who taught me my first hesitant stitches. Before I knew it I was making my own clothes. I’ve sewn everything from a women’s golf-clothing line, to costumes, window blinds and curtains, quilts and of course a wide variety of women’s and children’s clothing. Sewing has given me an incredible outlet of creative expression. I loved it so much that after earning my PhD in Vaccine Immunology, I made a complete career change to focus on fashion. I went back to school and in 2012 I graduated magna cum laude from The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles. In 2016 I moved from Southern California to New England with my husband and two children. My great joy in life is to create enjoyable and interesting courses for creatives. I go to sleep at night dreaming up design ideas for my next project or new courses for students. Most of all, I love helping others find their inner seamstress in the same way my family brought out mine.
